A 39ft. launch has just been completed at the yards of Mr. S. Carey, Port Chalmers, for Mr. Athfield, of that port. A 30 fc.p. C2 model "Kelvin-Sleeve" has been installed.

A 70 li.p. Kermath engino lias been installed in Mr. F. Seccombe's Dione. This craft secured a number of wins on the Manukau last year and with her new motor she is expected to beat her previous record.

Mr. F. J. Anderson, ot Mahurangi, has decided to fit his 30ft. launch with a 35 h.p. Kermath engino and a similar make of motor has. been ordered by Mr. J. Clarke for his cruiser Princess.

At Messrs. Miller and Tunnage's yard at Port Chalmers a 41ft. x 10ft. launch is being built for Messrs. Monti Brothers, of Port Chalmers The power plant is a C2 model 30 h.p. "Kelvin-Sleeve." Captain J. F. Lidgard, formerly owner of the keel yacht Alexa, and a pupil of the liichmond Nautical School, is now master of tho scow Esme. It is the intention of Captain Lidgard to sit for a higher grado certificate in the course of tho next 12 months.

Mr. A. Hammond, of Akaroa, has fitted his 38ft. launch with a B2 model Kelvin-Sleeve engine. It is rated 15 h.p. and drives tho launch at a good turn of speed for a boat of her design. A shipment of four-stroke British outboard motor engines is expected to reach Auckland at an early date. Orders for two engines have been placed by Mr. A. E. Harrison, ono for Mr. G. A. Harden, of Ponsonby, and the other for Mr. 11. Jane, of Newton. Tho motors, known as tho Viking, aro rated 8 h.p. and will bo fitted in 16ft. rowing boats. A notable addition to tho Cook Strait's fiishing fleet is a 45ft. x 10ft. 6in. fishing launch, which took the water at Balcena Bay, Wellington, last week. The Rosa, as siio is called, is equipped with a 40/60 h.p. Ailsa Craig reduction gear, medium duty unit and sets a new standard in tho Straits deep soa fishing craft. A 30ft. x 9ft. v-bottom cruiser, built by Mr. L. F. Bell for a Ponsonby resident, was launched at St. Mary's Bay on Tuesday, Unlike tho usual typo of v-bot-tom boats tho forward v sections in tho new craft aro almost invisible, giving tho appearance of a round bilge boat. Sho has a raised bus cabin lop with canopy and sliding hatch. Her main cabin is 12ft. in length and the forward cabin 6ft. The engino is neatly placed underneath tho table it, the main cabin. It is a 6cylinder 35 h.p. motor and is expected to drive the boat at a speed of about 9g to 10 knots. Tho boat lias been called the Gold Bell

A 37ft. x 9ft. Gin. cabin-cruiser has just been completed by Messrs. Ceilings and Bell for Mr. C. Goldeshoro and tho Rev. J. Calder. She has a raised glass cabin top, two cabins and an engine room. Her power plant is a 40 h.p. engine. Recently tho I.ano Motor Boat Company completed a smart-looking boat for Mr. M. (1. King, of Whangarei. She is •35ft. by Oft. and lias two cabins, the main Wing 12ft. in length. Over this cabin a skylight is fitted, which gives ample headroom. A 35 h.p. St. Lawrence engino is installed in tho new boat, which drives her at a good rato of speed.
