FIRE BRIGADE CONTEST.

BRIDGES IN THE COUNTY.

TAURANGA, Wednesday

The Tauranga Fire Brigade's monthly run in connection with tho Randle Cup competition was hold last evening and resulted :—Fireman W. Griffiths, 1; Fireman C. Haua, 2; Fireman W. Padlie} 3. The engineer's report presented at a meeting of the Tauranga County Council statod that tho construction of the Tahawai Bridge, on the Tauranga-Waihi highway, had been completed, and the Rereatukahia Bridge, near Katikati, was nearing completion. Plans for the Ruahihi and Nganuawahino bridges, on the Kaimai Road, had been sent to the Public Works Department for approval. The council decided to call tenders for metalling Morton's*Flat, on tho TaurangaWaihi highway, and also the Oropi direct road.
