Cash prizes, total £l4O, and. in addition, four 'trophies, rained at '25 gain ess. one at 50 guineas, one at 40 guineas, and one at 1C! guineas, ara offered for competi tion. Cattle entered in the section for Hereiords have the opportunity of winning three special trophies. Hereford?-,, though not as numerous, have always been of a high standard, and the number of exhibits ia the classes for Aberdeen Angus cattle has been growinc mor* numerous year by year. Special interest attaches to the competition for purebred Shorthorn steer, for which 20 guineas is provided as prize money by the Victorian branch of the Shorthorn Society of Australia. Not only exhibitors in these three sections, but also aii those who are interested in the breeding and feeding ot beef cattle, will watch with interest results cf the judging in tj/o class for pair of carport steers, in which, for the third' year ia succession, £I.OO is offered in pn»s money for the bast pair cf steers under 56 month old suitable for the beef espurfc tradew ■ .«•
