ELECTRIC POWER FAILS.

FAULT ON KING'S WHARF.

CARGO OPERATIONS DELAYED

Electric cranes on King's Wharf were out of action yesterday afternoon and evening on account of an interruption of the electric-power service in that area, due to a fault in a feeder cablb.

The fault developed early in the afternoon, and discharge of the cargo of the steamer Sagama River, which arrived shortly after mid-day with phosphates from Nauru Island, was held up. This was the only steamer seriously inconvenienced at the wharf. The Maui Pomare, berthed there, continued working under the power of her own winches. None of the other wharves was affected.

Temporary provision for the lighting of the wharf was made in the evening, but by nine o'clock the fault had been rectified.
