TRAIN STRIKES JIGGER.

INSPECTOR BADLY INJURED,

MISHAP ON EAST COAST LINE.

[BI TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT, j WAIHI, Monday. Very serious injuries were sustained by Mr. R. J. Pcriy, assistant inspector of permanent ways, when, a motor jigger on which he was riding came into collision with the 11.5 a.m. train from Waihi on the Tauranga side of the Waimata station this morning, Mr. Perry, whose first day it was on this section of the line, suffered a compound fracture of the skull and of one arm and one leg. The injured man was brought to Waihi by train, and then taken to tho hospital in the town ambulance. His injuries were attended to by Dr. J. McMurray Cole.

Mr. Perry, who is of middle age, is married. His wife resides at Ellerslie.
