GIRL ARTIST.

Miss Joan Manning-Sanders, tho 16-year-old artist, who has already had two pictures exhibited in tho Royal Academy, has published a volume of lier work. Her first Academy picture, "The Brothors," was exhibited last year. In this year's exhibition her "Concortina Players" has been given a place of honour. The volume of the young artist's works provides many striking examples of tho richness and originality of a singnlarly gifted child's mind. Joan was encouraged by her governess to visualise her history and her Bible, and put down her images on paper. The result was a series of Biblical pictures, tho first of which sht> did at tho ago of eight. At 12 she was commissioned by Father Bernard Walke, of St. Hilary, to do a set of water colours of New Testament subjects for his church- Theso are reproduced in the present publication.
