[MAXIMUM- PENALTY IMPOSED.
T ho maximum fine of ,£5 was imposed on . Walter Leslie Hai lick. who was charged in the Onehuuga Police Court yesterday with falling to attend military drill.
Sergeant-Major T. Cronin, of tho "Dofence .Department, said defendant, had been notified to attend parades, but his mother isaid lie .was in the country. Defendant had attended no parades last year, hnti not been to camp, and, so far, had attended no parades this year. He had been fined previously for tho same offence. Constablo foil said that when interviewed defendant seemed to treat tho matter as a joke. Tho magistrate said tho case evidently Called for tho maximum penalty.
