WIVES OF CHINESE.
THE RULE IN AUSTRALIA.
The Chineso Consul-General for Australia, Mr. F. T. Sung, delivered a communication to tho Federal Ministry recently asking for more favoured treatment for Chinese residents in Australia, Among tho requests which, it is understood, Mr. Sung made, was a concession iu the regulations relating to the bringing into Australia of tho wives of Chinese residents.
Tho various requests will be dealt with courteously, says a Canberra correspondent, but it is unlikely that any important concessions will be made, in view of tho fact 'that tho immigration law in this respect is already being administered generously.
