THE WESTELLA ESTATE.
SETTLERS' DIFFICULTIES.
DELAY REGARDING LOANS.
[BY TELECIRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ' PAIiMERSTON NORTH, Monthly. Owing to the fact that the Government lias A)een rather dilatory in advancing tho necessary loan money, hardly any settlers on tlio Westclia settlement have been able to proceed with house building operations. ■Tho landscape is dotted with whares of various sorts, in which familios are living, while other families are not residing on thei/ farms at present. At least one family of four is living in a single-roomed building^,kindly placed at its disposal by a resident in the locality.
The first concern of the settlers is to erect milking sheds, and to got their bare flections in some semblance of order for the season that is rapidly advancing upon tliem, ' It' says much for the industry and resourcefulness of the soction ownors that t'lifiy havo accomplished such a large amount of work in tho comparatively brief period at tlveir disposal. Of the original complement who drew fiectiops in tho ballot only one has loft the' area. This, it. is stated, was purely fori private Masons. However, tho section .was soon occupied again.
