ROAD ACCIDENTS.
ENGLAND'S DEATH-ROLL.
CORONER SPEAKS HIS MIND.
LONDON, Aug. 23
" The Government is so interested in a lot of strange people in Palestine that it has no time to worry about us," said the East Lancashire coroner, Mr. Rowland, at an inquest at Accrington concerning the death of a youth who was killed while pillion-riding. ' They send out troops by air because some strangers are endangered," ho added, " but nothing happens when 300 people arc killed in road accidents in England within three weeks. It is time the Government stopped this massacre." Mr. Rowland denounced dirt-track riding for " filthy lucre," saying it was no better than bull-fighting. " People only go .in the hope of seeing someone killed," lie added. The coroner's views impressed the jury, who urged the Government to declaro pillion-riding illegal.
