BILLIARD PLAYER SUED.

WRIT FOR £SOOO DAMAGES. (Received August 25. 7.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. Aug. 25. Mr. Thomas Harrison, a journalist, has issued a writ claiming £SOOO against Willie Smith, tho English billiard player. The cause of tho action is not disclosed. Plaintiff was granted leave to issue a special writ against Smith on tho ground that ho was apprehensive that Smith would leave the jurisdiction of tho Court before (he action comes to trial.

Willie Smith was arrested to-day after the issue of the writ. Sureties for bail of £5050 wore provided immediately, and Smith was icleased.
