NEW WOMEN'S CLUB.
The proposal to launch a club for young business and professional women, mairied or single, with the object of obtaining a closer and more personal interest in current affairs of world-wide importance, was discussed at a meeting held in the Y.W.C.A. Hostel yesterday afternoon. Mrs J. C. Dickinson presided in the absence of Mrs. J. A. Bradstreet and the scheme was briefly outlined by Miss Bent ham. The club would lie run somewhat on Rotary lines, meeting once or twice a month in the lunch hour ior fellowship and to hear an address on some topical or cultural interest. Business and professional women, and young married women, would get together and find some common interest apart from their own particular sphere of work and in this way the spirit of fellowship would be fostered, and at tho same time enlightenment on various subjects would be obtained. Both men and women speakers would be invited to the different luncheon meetings and a provisional programme committee was set up to outline the procedure and select the speakers. Iho conditions of membership, subscriptions, name of tho club and timo and place of meetings were left open for Hls comn/ittfco to discuss and tho next meeting will tako place in the hostel in September, when tho final decisions will be made. A provisional constitution committee was also elected for three months, consisting of: —Mrs. Howie, Mrs. Cable, Miss J. Begg, Miss Bentham, Mrs. R. Kernel', Miss Parker, Miss Green, Miss Booth, Miss Olive Gleeson, Mrs. 0 Hal* loran and Mrs. Webster. . Mrs. Kernelalso consented to act as provisional secretary ,
