CHARGES OF MURDER.
FURTHER REMAND GRANTED.
A further remand for a week was applied for by Chief-Detective Hammond when George Caffery, aged 34. a labourer, again appeared in the Police Court yesterday on a charge of murder, arising out of the death of Thomas Levy at a houso in Nelson Street on August 2. Accused was remanded to appear next Thursday. BRAUMAN BEFORE COURT. FURTHER REMAND GRANTED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Thursday. A chargo of having murdered Annabolla Dorothy Deans Brauman on August 7 was preferred to-day in tho Police Court against her husband, William Henry Brauman, who was discharged from hospital yesterday. The public gallery was packed, and there, were several women among tho curious crowd.
Brauman stepped into Jho clock shakily. Ho appeared to l>o still weak from his injuries, and he grasped the, rails to support himself as he walked into the dock. Over his damaged eye Ite wore a bandage and a shade. He was not represented hy counsel, no solicitor having boon engaged yet. to watch his interests.
Chief-Detectivo Cameron asked for it remand for 0110 week. He said that on Wednesday next ho would probably bo able to arrange for a fixture for tho hearing of the charge. The magistrate, Mr. Bartholomew, granted the remand.
