CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday,

For th<j breach of a term of his probation, in that he had failed to make restitution of £l6l ss, Herbert Rudd was today imprisoned until tho rising of the Court, a period of two minutes.

It was suggested that tho probation bo extended, to which His Honor replied: One cannot very well hold a man on probation for the term of his natural life, and he has been on probation for three years already. The probation system is not a collecting agency.
