NEW VICAR WELCOMED.
FUNCTION AT BIRKENHEAD.
A welcome to the Rev.-P. C. Davis, who was recently inducted as vicar of Birkenhead, and Mrs. Davis was given at a largely-attended social gathering last evening. Mr. A. R. Bicknell presided. Speeches of welcome were made by Canon E. J. McFarland, on behalf of the Northcotc Parish, Mr. A. McCracken, 011 behalf of the Presbyterian community, Mr. J. H. Allen, on behalf of the Methodists. and Mr. A. Tozer, on behalf of the parishioners.
Mr. McCracken said that a fine example of good fellowship was found at Birkdale,_ where for the past 20 years tho Anglicans and Presbyterians had worshipped together in the same church. Mr. Davis, in replying, referred to tho progress of tho district. He said that one of tho first new works to be undertaken was the erection of a vicarage, while bright, singing' in the church and a strong choir would also be objectives.-
