BOBBY-CALF INDUSTRY.

There is considerable activity in the bobby-calf industry, and tho Horotiu Freezing Works is operating at practically its maximum capacity. The Government inspector at Horotiu, Mr. R. Toulson, said calves were being sent forward in nmch better condition than in previous years. Whereas last season 20 per cent, had been rejected the percentage being rejected at present was only 2, Very few of the nnimals were bruised, and all cruelty was avoided in handling them. They were killed soon aftor arriving at the works, and in strict order of rotation.
In discussing 'tho industry, Mr. J. Lyons, director of tho livestock division of tho Department of Agriculture, expressed pleasure at tho improved quality of tho animals. Ho said he was pleased to seo that farmers were taking better care of calves that were sent to the freezing works.
