PRESENTATION.
After 40 years' service with the Railway Department, "the retiring locomotive engineer for the North Island, Mr. J. !*• Mackley, was farewelled at a smoke concert by the members of the Drivers, I'irelnens and Cleaners' Association. Mr. B. Carroll, who presided, presented M""Mackley with a smoker's outfit. The divisional superintendent, Mr. E. Casev, and tho former general manager of railways, Mr. 11. W. McVilly, were present, and spoke of Mr. Mackley as a highlyefficient railwav officer and one popular with the rnou ui tho service.
