MAORI YOUTHS AND GIRL.
CHARGE OF STEALING CAR

A fortnight ago a motor-car belonging <o Mr, Frank Hildreth, of Mangawai, Hawke's Bay, was stolen from the homestead, and two days later it was found capsized and abandoned on the coast road north of Gisborne.
A search was made by the police for two native youths who, with a Maori girl, had been absent from the and after a strenuous chase over rough country they were arrested. The girl had sprained her ankle and had to be carried about a mile.
The youths, Jimmy Lawson and Edward Tamai, were charged in the Police Court to-day with stealing the car. They were remanded. The girl, who was charged with absconding from licensed service, was also remanded.
