The monthly stock sale wus held at the Opotiki saleyards yesterday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited, reports as follows:—We had a good yarding of sheep and dairy cattle, trices for sheep were easier, especially for good four-tooth wethers. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report:There was a small yarding of sheep, mostly fat and forward wethers, but competition was dull, and all pens wero passed in. GOOD PRICES FOR JERSEYS. Tho Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report having held a successful sale of pedigree and grade Jerseys on account of Mr. J. P. Flynn in tho Hamilton East yards on Thursday. There was a largo attendance of breeders from all over the Waikato, and competition was keen throughout.. The best price was paid by Mr. \V. L. Magnet- of To Kowhai. for a choice cow. Jv.iie May, which realised tfi guineas. Other purchases were:—Betty May, bought by Andrew Mc.Farlane, Tfautupu. Princess May. to same buyer. Signs; Enid May. J. W. Schole3, Lichfield. 26gns; Ina May, W. I\. Shattock, Hamilton. 26ghs; Dale May, William Henry. Taupiii, 2Cgns. The highest price paid for a yearling Jersey heifer was given by Mr. J. A. Sanders, .Piako. for Sybils Actress, 21gna. The Jersey bull Ttidgv.-ay Master Viola was secured by Mr. O. H. Capper, of Ohinewai. for IGgns. All the pedigreo cows averaged Q7gns., and the heifers li'giis. Tho grade cows were a choice lot and averaged £l7 Ps, the highest price being £2O, paid by E. C. McCormick. of Matamata. The same purchaser also paid £23 for another cow. The company reports having held a. successful rclearing saloon account Of Mr. R. Sproul, of Eastport Bond. Waihou, on Wednesday. when his whole herd of choice Jersey and Jersey-cross dairy cows were sold at satisfactory prices. Tho herd averaged £l7 :is per head. Theio was keen competition for good finality dairy cattle, and practically tho whole yarding was cleared at satisfactory prices. Beef was also keenly sought, and sold nt increased prices. Dalgety and Company, limited, report on the Awaken special pedigree Jersey bull and heifer sale as follows:—A full yarding of pedigree Jersey bulls and also female rattle was submitted to keen competition from n liirsre attendance of buyers from the whole of tho Bay of Plenty district. Tho company sol i a line of highly-bred Taranaki bulls and also bulls from leading local breeders. Tho fop price of tho day was secured for a two-year-old Jersey bull, N'gahivi Groves Star, sold on account of Mr. Alex. McLean, of Avvakeri. for 70 guineas, and purchased by Mr. A. W. Thorne. of Opotiki. Other Jwo-yenr-old hulls on recount, of the sr.mo vendor sold at .'!Sl;;ns, .'irigns. 32igns, and oOlgns. Among the yearling bulls top price was secured by Mr. I). O. Murray, of Edgerumbe, for his yearling bull Tarn weni Golden Semite, which was bought for Glgns by Mr. J. Edwards, of Opotiki. Other yearlings from the same breeder brought 251, 21 and 17 guineas. On account of Mr. ft. Fleming, of "Woimoana. the yearling bull Myrtles King Pin was sold for 45gns to Mr. Campbell, of Awnkeri. and another yearling, Uncles Gift, at IlOgns. Other prices for yearling bulls were:—On. account of Mr. J. S. Rao. of Tanentua, 171gns. lOJgns, and 15gns; on account of Mr. Alex. McLean, of Awakeri, HOgns, to 27gns; on account, of Messrs. Holdsworth Brothers, of Edgecumbe, 15gns. On account of other vendors, grade yearling bulls realised 8 to Iljgns. Springing dairy heifers and cows met with strong competition, best heifers selling from £l3 lOs to El.'; others, £ll to £l2 15s; Inter calving, £8 to £lO 10s; backward, £5 10s to £8 10s: dairy cows, £M to .I*l.l 10«.
