A MYSTERIOUS CRIME.

Early one morning recently John Gallagher, of Johnstone, Renfrewshire,. was aroused by a loud knocking at his door. He snatched up a poker and went outside in search of the person responsible; several neighbours who had also been alarmed by the knocking joined him. During the search Gallagher disappeared, and his body was found some hours later in a courtyard some distance away. There waa a punctured wound in the chest and the ribs were broken.
