The Hon. Helen St. John, who is on n visit to New Zealand, is at present staving with Mrs. Hope Lewis, at 21, Gardner Road, Epsom.
Miss Sybil Nathan, M.8.E., aid M'ss Murray, M.8.E., have been appointed to represent the New Zealand branch of the .British Red Cross Society and Order ol St. John at the British Empire Red Cross Conlerence, to be held in London.
Hie monthly meeting of the Otahnhu Women's Christian Temperance I nion was held 11. the Methodist schoolroom on /Thursday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Greenwood, was in the chair. Mrs. Iledsliaw gave an interesting paper en tho ** League of Nations " and Mrs. \ enables spoke of her travels in Australia.
The monthly meeting ot the Mount Eden branch of the League of Mothers was held in the Presbyterian Bible Class room. Some of tho members gave an account of a day spent in their own iiomes, and those present were in picsscd with the way in which difficulties were overcome, and with the patience and courage shown in spite of many hindrances and problems. One member sang, and another gave a recitation. Ihe meeting was one of the most helpful the bianch has had.
The Victoria League Girls Committee gave a delightful concert for the Seamen's Mission in the Navy League rooms on Thursday evening. 'lhe Rev. 11. Yickery welcomed the guests, and a very happv evening ensued. Chorus songs were sung by the Misses King, Nairn, Spiiggs, Edmonds, Hutchison, Clarke, I'iagnell, Thronson and Rowntrec. An instrumental trio was played by the Misses Venables; recitations were given by the Misses Jourdain, Adkins and McCulloch, and songs by Miss Phyllis Rcnner. Miss Langsford played a pianoforte solo, and a dance was given by Miss Edna Ballantyne; Miss Edna Ballantyne acted as accompanist.
