MOUNT ROSKILL LOAN.
Sir, —According to newspaper roports, the Mount Roskili Road Board proposes taking a poll on August-31 on a proiposal to borrow £64,000 to concrete Mount Albert and Three' Kings Roads, which amount wih be subsidised by. the Highways Board by only £16,000. Seeing thai Mount Albert Road is rated a "first-class" main highway, and that the board has habitually granted £1 for £l, and even £2 for £l, subsidy to other local bodies, (lie ratepayers of Mount Roskili would like to know why only 20 per cent. the total cost, or five shillings to our twenty shillings, is allotted to this important work. Every person in the district will readily admit the necessity for concreting the roads, but indications point fo the loan being turned down, because of the niggardly treatment by the Highways Board. Ratepayer.
