LINE FISHERMAN'S HAUL

A very large starfish, measuring 19in. across and weighing 2A11>.. was taken by a fisherman a few days ago at a reef about five miles off the New River Heads, Southland. He felt a heavy weight on

bis line and pulled it up to find that the starfish had attached itself with a powerful sucker grip. Of a reddish brown colour, it had seven " legs " or feelers, and on the underside there was a mouth resembling a suction valve.
