DANCE AT ARAPUNI.

FOR THE EARTHQUAKE FUND. A social and dance in aid of the earthquake fund was held in tho Arapuni Hall this week. Tho arrangements were made by the social hall committee, and the evening was most successful. A concert programme occupied an hour, and giving items were:—Mr. P. with music on the tube-phones; tho "Boys from Brandon's Pool" (a jazz band), led by Mr. M. Powell; Mr. Young arid party, who performed two playettes; and Mr. Jones, who gave humorous recitations. Also much appreciated was a display of physical drill by the Awkward Squad. Dancing, interspersed witli musical items, and some fancy dances, by Miss E. Geddes, took up the remainder of the evening. The songs by Messrs. Barsford, Dunn, and Cook were also enjoyed. As a result, of the' entertainment a sum of over £SO was realised for the fund. A further sum of £SO had been previously forwarded to the New Zealand Herald fund, so that a substantial amount has gone from tho district. Mrs. Edgar's orchestra provided tho music for the dancing.
