ATTACKS ON POLICE.
MAN SHOOTS CONSTABLE.
ARREST NOT EFFECTED. SYDNEY, July 12. A sensational shooting affray occurred at the suburb of Wooloomooloo last evening. A constable, with two men under arrest, was approached by a man. who drew a gun. Shots were exchanged and the constable was wounded. His assailant and a girl, who is also reported to have been shot, cannot bo found.
MURDER AT ADELAIDE.
ASSAILANT FOUND GUILTY. ADELAIDE, July 12. John McGrath, aged • 23, was found guilty of the murder of Constable Holman at, Adelaide on February 25, and was sentenced to death.
Tho Into Constable Holman, who was need 23, with another constable, had stooped two men to question I hem. Suddenly one of the men drew a revolver, shot Constable Ilolman and ran awav. The second policeman shot the retreating mat; in one lop. , ~ Two other officers then appeared on the scene and several more shots were fired. Constable Holman was taken to hospital, where he died.
