GAME FOR WINTER EVENINGS.
When I saw the " Fireside Contests," I thought I would write and tell " Boys and Girls," a game, which we often play, in evenings. Any number of persons may play. Each player has a pencil and paper and one person directs. A letter of the alphabet is chosen; then the director says, " Writo the name of a mountain beginning with the chosen letter. For example, wero the chosen letter " c " then " Cook " could bo the name of the mountain. Wo find that two minutes is sullicient between that and the next. At intervals of two minutes the director reads the following:—
A mountain, a lake, a river, a (own n country, an island, a pea, a book, ;; girl s name, a boy's name, a (lower, a shrub, a tree, a celebrity, an author, an authoress, a pout, an animal, an edible, a beverage, a motor-car, a ship, a racehorse, a fish.
I Each answer must begin with the chosen I letter. When, all liavo been read, the i marking begins. To mark, each calls in I turn what they liavo written. If • two players have the samo for anything they I each receive five marks. If no one has the I same then ten marks. If three people ' get the tame, each receives three marks, Land if four players have the same (which J is very seldom), then two marks are I given to each. The marks aro for four players, but if more wished to play the marks could be adjusted. When all the items have been read and marked, then each person adds up his marks, and the one with the highest wins. For the next gain'} alter the letters, and tho game is just as exciting as the. one before. 1 think that this game would bo liked by many, as wo play it over and over again, and never seem to get tired of it. —From Alwyn Lusk, Queen Street, To Kuiti.
