PROPOSALS OF MARRIAGE*
Eiglithy would-be husbands who wished to lead a " simple life " in England's most cosmopolitan communal colony at Stornngton, near Worthing, havo been foilod because tho woman they offered to marry is already a wifo. Since an article describing the joys of tho idealistic lifo at Tho Sanctuary appeared in a London paper the colony's leader, Miss Vera Pragnell, has receivod that number of offers of marriago in ton different tonguPß. But Miss Pragnell, who founded tho colony, has a husband, Mr. Edward DonisEarle, an R.A. silver medallist, and a young and hearty heir as well. " One letter was in Russian and another in Greek," said Mrs. Earle. " Several offers of marriage also came from New York—apparently tho idea of simple lifo in England is very attractive to the sophisticated American mind. Ihe idea is no less fascinating, judging by the letters, to the Finnish, Scandinavian, and other Northern European inhabitanta.3
