THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

FIRM TONE ON MARKET. Offers for Government securities arid local body debentures on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday were practically unchanged, and most stocks were (irmly hold, with very few quotations from sellers. Now Zealand Breweries debentures, sales of which have been irregular during the past week or so, wero done at 26s 6d, l£d above the level of the last transaction. At tho close of the Exchange, buyers asked for more at the price, compared with closing offers 4d lower t.ho previous day. Sellers demanded 26s 10d, compared with 26s 6d the previous day. In banks there was another sale of New South Wales (Melbourne register) at £sl 12s 6d, and buyers offered i!sl 7s 6d for more, sellers remaining at £sl 15s. There was very aetivo interest in insurance shares, with offers for Queenslands raised slightly. Buyers of New Zealands, South British and Standards declined a shade, with sellers unchanged. » In loan and agency offers tor Wright, Stephensons were advanced 3d to 24s 9d without attracting quotations from sellers. Coal shares wore freely quoted for at current. to increased rates, with Pukemiros in demand Is dearer at 665, sellers easing Is to 675. In gas the ordinary issue of Aucklands sold Id dearer at 24s 6d, and sales were made of tho contributing issue at 18s sd, 18s 6d and 18s sd, compared with the last salo at 18s 4d. At. the final call buyers offered 18s 4(1, sellers 18s sd. In breweries Timnrus (5s paid) were unchanged with a sale at 8s 6d. Oilers for New Zealands were advanced to 77s 6d at tho lato call, no sellers. In the miscellaneous section New Zealand Farmers' Fertilisers sold 6d dearer at 235, and Robinson Ice Creams were done at 23s 6d, tho same figure at which they last sold early in May. Taranaki Oils eased further, selling 6(1 cheaper at 3s, the lowest sales figure for at least one and a-half years. Continued interest in Colonial Sugars was reflected in buyers' offers being raised to £SB, sellers advancing 2s 6d to £SB 2s 6d. Olfers for Milne ing 2s 6d to £SB 2s 6d. In ruining Mount Lyclls continued to advanco with a 'sale at 41s IOJd, l£d better than tho last sale. At tho lato call buvers offered 425, sellers 42s 3d. Broken" Hill Souths had closing inquiry at 665, sellers declining 6(1 to 66s 9d.
