MOUNT ROSKILL BOARD.

SECURING MORE WATER.

SUPPLY FROM ONE TREE MILL,

The Mount Roskill Road Board met last evening, tho chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, presiding. Mr. S. I. Goodall reported on the deputation which waited on the Ono Trco Hill Road Board on the subject of an increased water supply. Mr. E. A. Pearce expressed doubt whether the pressure would be sufficient. Mr. G. E. Tansley proposed that a deputation should wait on tho City Council to ascertain what arrangements could be made for a supply of good, pure water and not chlorinated water. Tho motion was seconded by Air. S. Scarborough.

Tho chairman deprecated the proposal to set. ono local body against another. Mr. Goodall said that they must keep faith with Ono Tree Hill, but Mr. Tansley said that his motion would not jeopardise those negotiations, for price did not enter into tho question, at present. All' knew'what the city supply would cost, but nobody knew yet what the price from One Tree Hill would be. The chairman reminded members of a firo in July of last year, when there was a pressure of 401b. from tho city supply, and when Onehunga and One Tree Hill supplies were turned ou the pressure rose to 1021b. The motion was defeated.

Seven tenders for a stormwater drain in Melroso Road, ranging from £153 10s 9d to £214 7s 9d, were received. The lowest being out, of order, the next, lowest was accepted, that of M. Bray and Company, Ltd., at £155 lis lid. 'lho engineer's estimate was £146. If. was decided to rescind a resolution requiring concrete kerbs in Prince's Avenue, and King's Road and to substitute stone kerbs.

Ten building permits, including four for dwellings and five, for garages, were issued during tho fortnight.
