AMERICAN TENNIS TITLE.

SUCCESS OF JEAN BOROTRA. Jean Borotra won the American Covered Courts lawn tennis singles championship at New York, beating F. T. Hunter in the final, 6—4, 6—o, 4—6, B—6. Tho victory gave Borotra permanent possession of the trophy on which his name has appeared twice already. In the third set. it. seemed likely Hunter would win. This expectation was increased in the fourth set when he broke through Borotra's service in tho first game, and later when he led 4-—2. Borotra, however, evened at 4 all and then led 5—4. From then on he held a slight advantage and eventually won tho set at B—6. In the final of tho 'doubles Tilden and Huntor defeated Borotra and W. W. Washburn, 6—4, 6—2, I—6, 6—2. •
