OBITUARY.
MIL JOHN" DRUMMOND. The death lias occurred of Mr. John Drummond, of Franklin Road, at the age of 69 years. Mr. Drummond, who was an elder brother of the late Mr. "James Drummond, headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, arrived in Auckland as a child from Scotland by the ship Bluejacket, and lived practically all his life here. He served his time as a boatbuilder with tho late Mr. Waymouth, and worked for most of the old Auckland firms, later Starting in business on his own account. He designed some splendid boats, one of which, tlie Venice, although over 25 years old, is still afloat under another name. Mr. Drummond was noted for the fine work put into his craft, and had an exceptionally wide knowledge of boats, which lie was always willing to impart.
MR. JAMES WALLACE. [llY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COB RESPONDENT.] DARGAVILLE. Monday. The death took place unexpectedly today of Mr. James Wallace, one of (lie best known fm ■lifers in the Ruawai district.. He contracted pneumonia a few days ago. Mr. Wajlacc took a keen interest in public affairs in tho district and at. the time of his death was a director of the Ruawai Co-operative Dairy Company. He had been a member of every local, body in the district and a past master of the Ruawai Masonic Lodge. He leaves a wife and a young family.'
