PHILISTINES' CLUB.
Particularly enjoyable was the second gathering of the Philistines' Club held in tlio Amateur Operatic Society hall on Saturday evening, when old and newlyelected members attended. Mr. C. D. McLean occupied the chair and a bright and interesting programme was presented during the first part of tho evening, while dancing took place after supper. Tho programme comprised items by the Snappy Three (Miss B. Poulton, Mr. A. Birch and Mr. A. Prentice), songs by Miss K. .Christie, Mr. R. Richards and Mr. Ernest Snell; humour by Mr. D. Flood and Mr. Alan McEhvain; pianoforte solos by Miss Maida Hooker 5 and violin solos by 'Mr. R. Muston. The accompanists were Mrs. B. E. Bird, Miss Maida Hooker and Miss Lilian Quinn. Among thoso who were present were Mrs. C. D. McLean, Mrs. J. Y. Birch, Mrs. A. Bartley, Mrs. B. E. Bird, Mrs. B. Hartman, Mrs. F. Dickinson, Mrs. H. T. King, Mrs. W. Goode, Mrs. Nello Porter,,*.
