TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. • Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.in, to-day was supplied to by Mi. H. M Vincent last evening;— A change in condition's is expected with slues clouding over and becoming overcast in districts northward of Now Plymouth and Napier, rain following in rnosi places in the northern portior of the North Island Heavy rain is indicated through out tho Auckland Province, with rivers rising. Easterly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening and increasing strong to gale especially in tho north. Soap increasing and becoming rough to heavy on the East Coast, particularly northward from East Capo, and heavy soas on the eas'ern and northern Tasman Sea. The disturbance of tropical character mentioned on Saturday is now developing north-westward of -the Dominion, and there is evidence of a cyclone in that area, moving south-eastward Stormy weather is expected in tho north, gradually affecting districts further south and unsettled conditions following generally. Coastal shipping is warned for oa'sterly and north-easterly gales. Cold nights, but milder temperatures shortly Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.501n. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.50 in.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last ovenirig as follows:—A rather intenso cyclone is now centred in the north Tasman Sea. A slight low-pressure wave is passing to the south, but barometers are still very high over New Zealand. Indications aro for winds mainly east to north, moderate at first, but freshening and later reaching gale forw> in places north of New Plymouth and East Cape. Seas becoming rough north of East Capo and rising in off-shore waters generally. Increasing north-easterly winds in the eastern Tasman, reaching gale force at times in tho northern portion, with rather rough to rough seas. Some scattered coastal showers at first in western and southern parts of tho South Island, but otherwise fair to fine weather; later unsettled conditions, with rain developing north of Auckland and extending southwards over most districts during the next three days.
