A poll of ratepayers within . a special rating area near the Maukoro Canal, Waitakaruiu, will be taken next Wednesday 011 a proposal to raiso a loan of £2400 for the purpose of extending the Hauraki West water roams and service pipes. The rate to be struck as security for tho loan if tho proposal is carried will be threepence in tho pound •on tho unimproved value, and the period of tho loan i 3 30 years. In addition to tho rate, water charges will be levied annually to brins the charge up to that paid by tho consumers in "tho Hauraki Plains West water supply district. Tho Public Works Department has agreed to subsidise th§ work at the rata of £1 for £4.
