Largo crowds continue to be attracted to tho Waikato Winter Show, whero the wido range of exhibits on vie.v is a source of sustained interest to the people. The show has been favoured with beautiful weather daily, and special trains from all pai ts of the South Auckland province have carried full complements of passengers.
Tlio gate takings on Friday totalled £4lB, against £383 on the fourth day last yeai', while to-day tho takings amounted to £-172, against £4BO last year. Tho takings for the first five days total £lo7f, compared with £1827 for tho corperiod last year, an increase of £52.
An interesting feature of tlio show is a display of handwork by pupils of tho Haifiilton Technical High School The section comprises needlework, engineering, cookery and woodwork. An outstanding exhibit is an embroidered bedroom set. Useful tools and appliances, as well as ornamental brasswork, givo an indication of the popularity of this class of work among pupils. Commenting on the photographic division tho judge, Mr. 11. E. Gaze, said tho exhibits aro more numerous and moro varied than last year. In standard they were equal to the work shown in previous years and tho junior sections havo improved considerably. An excellent musical programme was submitted before an exceptionally large crowd at tho show this evening.
