YEAR'S ACTIVITY REVIEWED

The report presented at tho annual meeting of tho Paeroa Beautifying Society this week stated that tho chief activity during tho past year had been tho planting of trees on a long stretch of Normanby Road and the grassing of the north bank near the traffic bridge. A donation of £3O bad been made to tho Borough Council's unemployment relief fund. The financial statement disclosed that assets exceeded liabilities by £206.

It was decided to make a further donation of £3O toward tho relief of unemployment. Appreciative references wero made to tho service to the society of Miss Butler and Dr. E. Little, and Messrs. W. C. Alexander and E. Porritt. The latter was elected a life member.

Tho following officers wero elected:— President, Mr. W. Marshall; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. 11. Taylor and J. W. Silcock; committee, Messrs. E. Edwards, W. D. Nicholas, 11. J. Hare, C. N. O'Neill, E. W. Porritt and Miss Rickard; secretary, Miss Butlfr; auditor, Mr, W. C. Alexander.
