MOUNT MAUNGANUI DOMAIIM. NEW POULTRY CLUB FORMED. [I)Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Wednesday. At a special meeting of tho Tauranga Borough Council a by-law was agreed to making it an offence to drive any vehicle over any hose belonging to or being used by tho fire brigade in extinguishing a lire or at fire drill. Tho Secretary of the Marine Department lias advised the Mount Maunganui Domain Board that an Order-in-Council has been issued vesting in the board for 21 years the control of part of Ocean Beach foreshore at the Mount, from the north-western side of Beach Road to the eastern boundary of the signal station reserve. This action has been taken with a view to preventing motor-cycle lacing on a certain part of the beach .where bathers congregate. Tho Mount Maunganui Domain Board has appointed Mr. 11. K. Clarke as honorary ranger of the reserve, which is a gamo sanctuary. Tho board has also appointed Messrs. B. C. Bobbins, A. E. Newsham, J. Law and C. Whiting as an executive committee. An instructive lecture on fertilisers was delivered to farmers during the course of the winter exhibition by Mr. C. Walker, instructor in agriculture. As a result of the winter exhibition a poultry club has been formed, with Air. H. Douglas as president and Mr. M. W. •Watt as secretary. The club is affiliated with the North Island Poultry Association. , . The annual report on the Public Library slated that the expenditure on books during the past year was £137. Tho new . books purchased totalled 513. The total receipts were £330, and there was a credit balance of £26.
