THIEVES IN SUBURBS.

MT. EDEN HOUSE ENTERED.

SMALL SUM OF MONEY TAKEN. Thieves broke into the residence of the Rev. Pi. C. Roberts, of 16, View Road, Mount Eden, yesterday. The house was thoroughly ransacked and the intruders stole a small sum of money 111 silver a.nd pennies.

For a few days Mr. Roberts' family lias been spending a holiday at Titirangi, and at 10 o'clock yesterday morning Mr. Roberts visited the house. When he departed after a short stay he locked all doors, but returning about nine o'clock last evening he found the front door ajar. Visiting the various rooms Mr. Roberts found they had all been searched. Drawers, boxes and suitcases had been opened by the intruders, whose object vras evidently to secure money. Except for a few articles in upstairs rooms nothing was strewn about the floors. Besides the front door being open a French window; upstairs was unlatched.
