PURCHASE OF BUSINESS.

DEAL BY. MENNIES, LTD, C. G. LAURIE, LTD., ABSORBED. The old-established business of, C. G. Laurie,' Limited, manufacturing confectioners and biscuit-makers, has been purchased by J. M. Mennie, Limited. Negotiations were concluded on Saturday morning and the purchasing firm is taking over the Stanley Street premises of Laurie, Limited, at once. J. M. Mennie, Limited, havei been in the biscuit and confectionery manufacturing business in Auckland since 1869, and have occupied their present site in Albert Street for 46 years. C. G. Laurie, Limited, have also been in -business in the city for . about 60 years. Recently their factory was completely renovated, following a destructive fire. There are about 80 employees. Tho purchasing firm will continue to carry on its manufacturing business in its Albert Street premises as well as at StanIcy Street.
