TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL: FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening;— Cloudy and unsettled weather is indicated in districts northward of New Plymouth and Napier, with morning mists and fogs in coastal areas. A scattered rainfall is expected, heavy in-northern areas. . Mainly fair to fine in the south, but becoming unsettled gradually. Southeasterly winds, moderate to strong, backing to north-east, then, freshening, and increasing strong to gale. Rough seas on the east coast northward of East Cape; moderate elsewhere. Tho new disturbance is centred northward of Cape Maria, and is moving slowly southward., Expect stormy conditions in North extending further south shortly, unsettled weather becoming general. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—A shallow cyclone is passing north of New Zealand and a slight depression is in tho south. An nnti-cyclonr is still situated east of the South Island and another one is moving off east of Australia. The pressuro distribution is now less favourable for the development of, general rains. Indications are for moderate to fresh east to south winds north of Westport and Kaikoura; elsewhere moderate westerlies backing to southerlies and freshening. A rather rough swell on tho east coast north of Kaikoura arid on the west coast of (lie North Island; elsewhere seas smooth to moderate. Moderate to fresh southerly winds with moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather changeable, with some scattered showers, more especially north of Auckland and in eastern districts.
