FINANCE FOR FARMERS.
RURAL CREDITS SYSTEM.
MR. POLSON'S DISAPPOINTMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday.
Disappointment that the rural credits system was not taking the place of the advances to settlers scheme was expressed by Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P., at a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Farmers' Union. He said he was strongly in favour of the rural advances system. State advances were advances made from money borrowed by the Government. Under the rural advances system finance was obtained .through the sale of bonds issued by the Treasury upon the security of the pledged lands of ,tho Dominion. The rural advances system guaranteed steady flow of credit. During the .past 30 years the amount of money available had fluctuated according to the policy of the Government in power. The matter of making representations to the Government was left to the discretion of Mr. Poison.
