WHANGAREI AERO CLUB.
OFFICIAL STATUS SOUGHT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Wednesday. A deputation from the Whangarei Aero Club waited on the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Marino to-day. The deputation was introduced by Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P., who explained that the Aero Club was anxious to. receive official recognition by the Government. Arrangements had been made for a suitable landing ground on the Polio Island reclamation. Major Isitt had recently inspected tho ground for the second time, and had also inspected the upper reaches of tho Whangarei Harbour with a view to their utility as a landing ground for seaplanes. The club was in a strong financial position, and was awaiting official recognition before proceeding to arrange for a Moth plane. The Minister said ho would forward tho request to the Minister of Defence.
