Thero was a further slight easing in values for beef at the weekly Westfield fat stock sale yesterday, although the demand' was steady, throughout. The quality was excellent, and heavier classes wero again offered in largo numbers. Extra choice ox sold at 36s per 1001b, compared with 37s last week. Last week's advance in values for sheep was maintained. There was an average yarding, mostly of good qtiality. An ayerage yarding of lambs found a ready sale at late quotations. Competition was again keen and values were firm for pigs, which were yarded in average numbers. In some classes values were slightly easier. In isolated cases last week's values ruled, but taking the sale on the whole, there was a drop in prices. Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, and Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the Johnsonville sale held to-day as follows:—In spite of the inclement weather there was the usual attendance of buyers. Competition for all classes of stock was good. The bullocks offered were - the best quality cattle submitted at Johnsonville for some years, comprising mostly real prime heavy-weight cattle, with a few pens ■of lighter, but prime, sorts. The wethers were of good quality, but owes were not up to tho usual standard. Lambs, which were yarded in smaller numbers than usual, met with a keen sale. There were no cows or vealers yarded.
