SERIES OF THEFTS.
YOUTH ADMITS DISHONESTY. SENTENCE OF DETENTION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. A sentence of two years' detention in a Borstal Institute was imposed on Weliiam Leslie Veale, aged years, who pleaded guilty in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day to a series of thefts of tools, bicycle lamps, and milking machine equipment from various people in the Matamata and Walton districts. It was stated that Veale was employed as a farm hand in the Matamata district. In his statement Veale said he committed some of the thefts at the instigation of his employer, but he, on being called, emphatically denied the allegation.
