CHARGE OF MURDER.
PETTY OFFICER REMANDED. POLICE SEEKING WITNESS. [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The case against Eric Matthews, a petty officer on the Diomede, who is charged with murdering John Stevens, was before the Police Court again to-day. The police were granted a further reipand for a week, the chief detective assuring the Court that if a witness they were looking for could be found the case would then proceed.
