REPARATION PAYMENTS

PROTEST BY AUSTRALIA. UNACCEPTABLE REDUCTIONS. United Service. LONDON, May 13. The political correspondent of the Sunday Herald says he understands that in diplomatic circles there is much gratification at a strong protest made by the Government of Australia against the reparation proposals of Mr. Owen D. Young, of the United 1 States. "We may take it," said a spokesman to-day, "that Australia is speaking the mind of all the Dominions in showing that tha Empire will never accept the proposed reductions in percentages.

"The Dominions and colonies will not be asked to suffer reductions because they are not represented at the reparation conference in Paris. Any reduction will apply only to those nations who have delegates on the Committee of Experts." It, is believed that if any scheme emerges from the present deliberations in the French capital the Dominions and colonies either will not be asked to forgo any reparation receipts or will be invited to make full representations on the' subject.
