NEW CHAIRMAN ELECTED. MR. M. H. WYNYARD CHOSEN. In succession to Mr. IT. R. Mackenzie, vho has retired after seven years' service, Mr. M. H. Wynyard was yesterday elected chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board. Mr. G. R. Hutchinson was elected deputy-chairman. The appointments were made at the statutory annual meeting of the board. In nominating Mr. Wynyard for the chairmanship, Mr. Mackenzie said he was confident the board would consider him a fit and proper person for the office. During his (Mr. Mackenzie's) recent absence abroad, Mr. Wynyard had presided most ably as deputy-chairman. He appreciated Mr. Wynyard's loyalty, and trusted that be would meet with all possible success. He was sure the members would give him the same support that they had given to their iate chairman. The nomination was seconded by Mr. G. R. Hutchinson. There were no other nominations, and Jilr. Wynyard was declared elected amid applause. Having taken his seat, the new chairman thanked the members and assured them that ho would do his best to uphold the traditions of his office. Mr. Hutchinson was nominated for rieputy-chairnian by Mr. Wynyard, and was declared elected. The three new members, Messrs. E. 'Aldridge, A. E. Grecnslade and R. T. Reid, were welcomed by the chairman, and briefly returned thanks. It was decided that the chairman's honorarium should be the maximum allowed by statute, £'2oo a year. The following standing committees were elected for the ensuing two years: — Works.—The chairman of the board (chairman), Messrs Aldridge, Blood■vvorth, Grecnslade, Mackenzie, McCallum find Reid. Finance.—Messrs. Clay (chairman), Hellaby, Hutchinson, Indor, J. B. Johnston, Maciridoc and Wynyard. Purchasing and Stores. —Messrs. Macinrioe (chairman), Greenslade, Hellaby, J. B. Johnston, and Mackenzie. Manukau Harbour. —Messrs. Mackenzie, Hutchinson, Campbell Johnstone, Laing, McCallum, Reid and Wynyard. Superannuation.—The chairman of the board (chairman), Messrs. Blood worth and Inder (with two representatives of the staff). The following special drainage committee was elected: —The chairman of the board (chairman), Messrs. Aldridge, Bloodworth, Hutchinson, Inder, J. B. Johnston and Mackenzie.
