ATTITUDE OF AUSTRALIA.
MEMORANDUM BEFORE HOUSE
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received April 20, 8.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. April 19. The State Department to-day handed the Australian tariff memorandum to the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives. It is understood that the text is now in Canberra, and the State Department agrees to its publication.
The memorandum outlines the attitude of Australia toward the contemplated revision of the American tariff, regarding commodities axported by the Commonwealth. It is understood to be a friendly document, rather than a protest. It was handed to the State Department by the British Ambassador. Sir Esme Howard, on April 8.
