CONVERTED BY PRINCE.
RED LABOUR LEADER.
MR. A. J. COOK RECANTS.
NO LONGER REVOLUTIONARY. (Received April 21, 5.45 p.m.) United Service. LONDON, April 20. Tho Prince of Wales has converted Mr. A. J. Cook, secretary of tho Miners' federation. "I am still in theory a Republican, but tho Prince of Wales lias been tho chief factor in destroying my republicanism," is Mr. Cook's striking declaration in an interview published in tho Daily Sketch. " I have departed from my own revolutionary opinions bccauso tho Princo has departed from the orthodox conduct of Royalty.
" If he wero not tho Princo of Wales ho would still bo a great social worker and reformer and probably a member of the same party as myself. A year ago this statement would have been received with hooting and indignation at any Labour meeting. To-day it is received with cheers."
Mr. Cook says that through the wonderful work of tho Princo on behalf of the miners the question of the Monarchy had ceased to bo an issuo in tho workingclass movement. "It has made tho British Throne tho safest in tho world and the Prince tho safest man in Britain," says Mr. Cook.
lhus tho miners' secretary handsomely recants his oft-expressed opinion that a revolution in England is inevitable.
