CONSTRUCTION ON CLYDE.

The Union Steam Ship Company has let a tender to the Ardrossan Shipbuilding Company, of Ardrossan, on the Clyde, for a new cargo steamer of 4400 tons dead weight, to steam at 12 knots under service conditions at sea. She will be oil-burning, but built so as to be readily convertible for using pulverised coal as fuel. She will be a single-screw boat and is to be delivered at the end of the year. She will be put on the Dunedin-to-Auckland, via intermediate ports, trade.
